Robert De Niro Is Training A Champion In New Trailer For 'Hands Of Stone' With Edgar Ramirez

You may not remember or even noticed, but this spring, the boxing flick “Hands Of Stone” received a screening at the Cannes Film Festival. But it’s perhaps indicative of the response that we’re about a month away from release and most people probably don’t know or realize the movie is coming. But The Weinstein Company are stepping into the ring with this one….unless they decide to push it back at the last minute (recent times haven’t been pretty for the company), and hoping to get a late summer audience to check it out.

Robert De Niro, Edgar Ramirez, Usher Raymond, Ana de Armas, Ellen Barkin, and John Turturro are part of the cast of this one, which tells the story of Panamanian boxer Roberto Duran, his relationship with manager and coach Ray Arcel, and their incredible story. Here’s the synopsis:

HANDS OF STONE follows the life of Roberto Duran (Edgar Ramirez), the Panamanian fighter who made his professional debut in 1968 as a 16 year‐old and retired in 2002 at the age of 50. In June 1980, he defeated Sugar Ray Leonard (Usher Raymond) to capture the WBC welterweight title, but shocked the boxing world by returning to his corner in their November rematch, famously saying the words “no mas” (no more.)

“Hands Of Stone” opens on August 26th.
