Robert Downey Jr. To Direct Anthony Michael Hall In TV Pilot 'Singularity'

Some friendships are unshakeable, and it seems that Robert Downey Jr. and Anthony Michael Hall have maintained their bond since they were both rising stars in the 1980s. The duo appeared in three movies together, 1985’s “Weird Science,” 1988’s “Johnny Be Good,” and 1994’s “Hail Caesar,” but you can do the math and see that it’s been 20 years since they’ve hung out on set. But that’s about to change.

Downey Jr. is set to make this directorial debut, getting behind the camera for the TV pilot “Singularity,” with Hall starring. RDJ is also producing the potential show, but because there are no plot details being revealed, we’ll just assume it has to do with robots becoming self-aware in some capacity.

There’s no network attached to the show just yet, butI presume that will be the next step, and having RDJ attached as a producer and first-time director should get some doors open for meetings. And for RDJ, it’s a good way to get his feet wet should he ever plan to make the leap to feature filmmaking, so he can get a feel for the job requirements behind the camera. And if the show doesn’t work out, maybe there’s a role for Hall in the inevitable “Sherlock Holmes 3“? [The Wrap]
