'Stranger Things' Season Four Adds Horror Legend Robert Englund To The Cast

It’s been a while since we last heard any news about season four of “Stranger Things,” other than the fact that Hopper will return — in Russia. Well, sticking to the promise of a “scarier” season four, Netflix just announced a slew of new cast members, including horror legend Robert Englund, the man behind Freddy Krueger.

According to an announcement by Netflix, the star of “A Nightmare on Elm Street” has signed on to play “Victor Creel, a disturbed and intimidating man who is imprisoned in a psychiatric hospital for a gruesome murder in the 1950s.” Well, that certainly sounds like a role fitted to give you nightmares, especially when in the hands of Robert Englund. “Stranger Things” has often given us nods to the “Elm Street” franchise, so it’s about time Englund travels to Hawkings.

Also joining the cast is Tom Wlaschiha, who played Jaqen H’Ghar on “Game of Thrones,” as “Dimitri, a Russian prison guard who befriends Hopper (David Harbour). He’s smart, cunning and charming, but can he be trusted?” We also have what sounds like a pseudo attempt at replacing the charming Alexei from last season, with Nikolaj Djuricko as Yuri, a seedy Russian smuggler with a weakness for peanut butter, and new series regulars Jamie Campbell Bower (“Harry Potter“) as a man working as an orderly at a psychiatric hospital, and Eduardo Franco (one of the standout performances in “Booksmart“) as a “fun-loving stoner who works at Surfer Boy Pizza” which exudes “Fast Times at Ridgemont High” vibes, and Joseph Quinn as a metalhead running the local Dungeons & Dragons club.
