Robert Luketic to Revive 'Romancing the Stone,' Andrea Savage Writing 'The Hangover' For Girls?

— Wow, this is really the worst case scenario isn’t it? Fox are intent on remaking Robert Zemeckis’ fairly entertaining “Romancing the Stone,” right? Well, they appointed Robert Luketic, who was behind the abominable rom-com “The Ugly Truth,” to direct, according to Pajiba. Combined with a script from Dan McDermott, who was behind the almost impossibly stupid “Eagle Eye,” and this is pretty much guaranteed to be awful. The site is also reporting that Sony are remaking Goldie Hawn starrer “Overboard,” and attaching Katherine Heigl to star.

— From the drawer marked ‘unnecessary sequels’ comes the news that Elijah Wood and Robin Williams are negotiating to reprise their roles in “Happy Feet 2,” George Miller’s sequel to his animated hit of 2006. It’s unknown whether the rest of the original cast, which also included Hugh Jackman and Nicole Kidman, will also return.

— Comedienne Andrea Savage, best known as Will Ferrell’s psychiatrist in “Step Brothers,” will write and, presumably, star in, a comedy script for Castle Rock, which focuses on “five lady friends who hope to enjoy a relaxing girl’s weekend in Santa Fe.” So, a femme-driven “The Hangover,” then, greeeeat. Savage will also play a supporting role in the star-studded comedy “Dinner For Schmucks,” and a half-hour TV pilot for Fox.

— Of all the people likely to cash in on the success of “The Blind Side,” WWE Films, the cinematic arm of the wrestling empire, was one of the least likely, you’d have thought. But nevertheless, shooting began today on “Brother’s Keeper,” a PG-rated family drama about a teenage boy (Devon Graye, who played the young “Dexter”) who tries to reunite his estranged family (Patricia Clarkson and wrestler/shitty actor John Cena) by joining his high school wrestling team. Danny Glover also stars, and it’s being directed by TV director Mel Damski.
