When it was revealed that Robin Williams died by suicide at the relatively young age of 63, people were shocked. How could one of the funniest, most joyful people on the planet succumb to such a dark fate? Well, as seen in the upcoming documentary, “Robin’s Wish,” the truth is that maybe his death wasn’t as cut and dry as was once believed.
As seen in the trailer for “Robin’s Wish,” the new documentary explores the life and career of Robin Williams but also dives deep into what led to the actor’s suicide. While tabloid speculation grew about what led to his death, the truth is that Williams was battling a debilitating disease that was ravaging his mind in ways that no one was close to understanding at the time. And the only reason people were shocked when he passed is because the very same genius that enamored him in the hearts of millions is what prevented him from showing just how hard of a battle he was fighting inside.
Obviously, the film will have plenty of footage featuring Williams, but there are also a number of family, friends, and colleagues that speak in support of the actor and his struggles including his widow Susan Schneider Williams, Shawn Levy, John R. Montgomery, Rick Overton, and David E. Kelly.
“Robin’s Wish” will arrive on VOD on September 1.
