Rock 'N Roll Feature By 'Sopranos' Creator David Chase To Film Later This Year

Announced all the way back in January of 2009, David Chase’s mysterious rock ‘n roll drama is moving closer to going into actual production.

Deadline “exclusively” reports (even though Chase blabbed about the project to EW over a year ago) that the “Sopranos” creator is writing a “music-driven coming-of-age saga” set in the 1960s, which is more or less what we knew already. What they have confirmed however, is that Chase is eyeing a late summer or early fall shoot date. There is no word on casting details at this time. The film will be released under the Paramount Vantage banner, which was officially canned last summer and absorbed into the parent company as a production wing.

It should be no surprise to anyone that Chase is readying a music driven drama as the guy is practically an encyclopedia of music. We’re curious about this one, and though the ’60s coming-of-age thing has been done to death, we’re confident Chase has enough insight to deliver something fresh.
