'The Rook' Trailer: A Spy With A Secret Is Coming to Starz This Summer

If you’ve ever longed for a show that’s one part “Killing Eve” and one part “Stranger Things,” you may be in luck. Later this month, Starz’s newest supernatural spy drama, “The Rook,” will premiere worldwide.

“The Rook” is an adaptation of Daniel O’Malley’s novel of the same name. It was originally introduced by “Twilight” author Stephenie Meyer, but key creative differences precipitated Meyer’s departure from the project early in production. The showrunners are now Lisa Zwerling (“Betrayal“), Karyn Usher (“Bones“), and Stephen Garrett of “The Night Manager” fame. Fans of “Shameless” will recognize Emma Greenwell as the series’ lead, Myfawny Thomas. “The Rook” is one of many dramas in recent years that have shown a marked predisposition towards edgy paranormal thrillers.

Myfanwy Thomas wakes up near London’s Millennium Bridge with no recollection of who she is or why she is surrounded by a circle of dead bodies. Everything changes when she discovers that she is a member of the Checquy, an elite British secret service for individuals with strong supernatural powers. The race is on for Myfanwy to rediscover her identity, take on the agency, and find out who wiped her memory.

The cast includes Olivia Munn, Adrian Lester, Ronan Rafter, Catherine Steadman, Jon Fletcher, Shelley Conn, and James D’Arcy. The pilot episode of The Rook will air Sunday, June 30 on Starz. Will you be watching?
