Back in December, it was announced that Frances McDormand (who basically only appears in Oscar-nominated films) is set to join the upcoming film, “Women Talking,” from director Sarah Polley. As if it isn’t exciting enough to have McDormand and Polley working together on a new film, the news was made even sweeter today as the rest of the main cast was announced, featuring some truly great talents.

According to Deadline, Frances McDormand will be joined in “Women Talking” by a cast that includes Rooney Mara, Claire Foy, Jessie Buckley, Judith Ivey, Sheila McCarthy, Michelle McLeod, and Ben Whishaw. “Women Talking” is based on the best-selling novel by Miriam Toews, which tells the story of a group of women in a religious community that has its faith tested when the women discover a series of sexual assaults perpetrated by the men. The film also features the big-screen debuts of actors August Winter, Liv McNeil, and Kate Hallett. As mentioned, “Women Talking” is directed by Polley, who is also writing the adaptation.
While we can’t go into detail about every cast member, the big names include Mara, who is the two-time Oscar-nominated actress best known for her roles in features such as “Carol,” “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo,” and the recent feature, “Mary Magdalene.” She’s also set to star in Guillermo del Toro’s upcoming film, “Nightmare Alley.” Foy is known for her award-winning role in “The Crown,” as well as features such as “The Girl in the Spider’s Web” and “First Man.” Buckley recently starred in “I’m Thinking of Ending Things,” as well as the FX series, “Fargo.”
A release date for “Women Talking” is not yet known, but obviously, this is going to be a huge release for MGM.
