Rose Byrne Talks 'Get Him To The Greek'; Says Shes Plays Lily Allen-Like Pop-Star

In an interview with Movieline, actress Rose Byrne has discussed her role in Nicholas Stoller’s upcoming Russell Brand vehicle “Get Him To The Greek.”

The Judd Apatow produced film stars the likes of Jonah Hill, Sean “P.Diddy” Combs, and Elisabeth Moss and will follow Brand’s Aldous Snow character from “Forgetting Sarah Marshall” as he relapses from his soberness and is escorted by a record company intern from London to L.A.’s Greek Theatre for a performance.

Of her role in the film, Byrne revealed: “I’m playing a British pop star, kind of like a Lily Allen, Victoria Beckham-esque pop star. And she’s Russell Brand’s girlfriend. It’s a very small role. I literally have four or five scenes in the film. It’s really fun. It’s been a few weeks here in L.A., and then I finish up in London. It’s quite a departure from anything I’ve ever done. Quite over the top and very fun. I just hope I make the final edit with all those comedians around, because they’re pretty funny — Jonah Hill and all those guys.”

The role was further noted by Byrne as “lots of improvising” and challenging with regards to the relationship dynamic with the enigmatic Aldous Snow in that “there’s an element of destructiveness to his character” that allows her character “much more in control.”

And what about working with the notorious Brand? “He’s actually very professional on set. Very funny, very erudite, very quick — not at all difficult, or even flamboyant, which is his public persona, I suppose. No, it’s been good. And I think because we’ve had intimate stuff – confirmed by Byrne as “more relationship arguments” than anything else – together, it’s kind of serious in a few scenes, it’s been great.”

“Get Him To The Greek” is due out sometime in 2010 with shooting set to conclude by month’s end.
