Rosemarie DeWitt Heads To Gus Van Sant's 'Promised Land' With Matt Damon & John Krasinski

Rosemarie DeWittAfter a slight bit of turmoil earlier in the year when Matt Damon dropped out of the director's chair, and Warner Bros. bailed on backing the picture (Focus Features and Participant are now teaming to produce), everything is back on track for "The Promised Land." Gus Van Sant will direct and John Krasinski, who penned the script with Damon based off an idea by Dave Eggers, will also star. And now they've got another great addition.

Rosemarie DeWitt ("Rachel Getting Married," "Your Sister's Sister") has landed the female lead in the upcoming film. Plot details are being kept under wraps, but the Capra-esque story will center on two rival executives, with Damon arriving in a small town and having his life turned upside down. And well, that's all we got. But DeWitt is sharp and talented, can handle both comedy and drama with aplomb and is certainly an asset to have here. No word yet on her role.

Production is slated to start in April, but no release date has been set. [Deadline]
