Rumor: 'Batman v. Superman: Dawn Of Justice' Will Address Fan Complaints From 'Man Of Steel'

Man Of Steel**Spoilers ahead** obviously, so if you don’t want to know anything about "Batman v. Superman: Dawn Of Justice," just turn around, nothing to see here, maybe go watch that Terrence Malick trailer. But if you want a little potential intel on the blockbuster comic book movie, well read on…

As you’ll recall, there was some blowback from certain quarters about Zack Snyder‘s gritty, violent take on Superman in "Man Of Steel." From the city smashing punch-fest in the finale, to Superman killing General Zod by snapping his neck, they were actions that weren’t necessarily in keeping with more moderate hero from the comic book pages or the Christopher Reeve-led films, and it seems there has been some course correction as the series heads into ‘Batman v. Superman.’

According to Badass Digest, the movie fast forwards two years after the events of "Man Of Steel" (though Batman apparently arrives in Metropolis during the Superman/Zod rumble), with Clark Kent living with Lois Lane and working at The Daily Planet. The scope gets more international with Superman stepping into an incident in the Middle East, but, viewed as a U.S. citizen stepping on other people’s turf, he’s not particularly warmly greeted by certain corners of the globe (China aren’t fans). He’s not even yet trusted by Batman, who apparently develops some weapons to fight the powerful Kryptonian. However, when bad guys come calling, he’s there to do his duty, telling one villain in particular, "I won’t snap your neck, I’m going to take you to prison" (though he does threaten to break the villain’s back).

Yes, that’s a direct callout featured in a draft of the script that was completed one month before production began on the movie (so it could be have been jettisoned or excised during editing). But the attitude of a more thoughtful Superman carries over in his battle with Doomsday, with Superman moving the fight away from crowded areas, earning the support of General Swanwick. So, it seems some interesting textures are being introduced to tone down, ever so slightly, the more reactionary Superman from the previous movie.

Meanwhile, in case you were wondering, Lois Lane and Wonder Woman won’t fight in this movie. “I don’t know how it will turn out, if we’re going to be competition, but we are not in this, I can safely say, and we’re not in real life,” Amy Adams teased in an interview with ComingSoon, while confirming that Gal Gadot is "the coolest girl ever."

Still a loooooong wait for this. "Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice" drops on March 25, 2016.
