We may have never received an official announcement regarding the unconfirmed rumor of Colin Trevorrow helming “Star Wars Episode IX” yesterday, but that doesn’t mean interesting developments haven’t been happening around the Force lately. The good folks over at Bloody-Disgusting recently came across some exclusive plot details for the potentially dark and gritty “Star Wars Anthology: Rogue One” and it’s news that should be intriguing enough to turn the heads of even the most cynical fans of the franchise.

Earlier this week, we found out Darth Vader is likely slated to make an appearance in ‘Rogue One’ — this makes sense, the movie takes place before the events of “A New Hope” and the film centers on a band of rogue rebels trying to steal the plans for the Death Star. But now we’re hearing a few more familiar faces will be added to the mix as well. Rumored anyhow. Here’s what BD’s report says:
“Ben Mendelsohn’s new Moff character is indeed the big baddie of Rogue One. The other main villains of the piece are bounty hunters hired by the Moff to quietly retrieve the stolen Death Star plans at all costs. Vader factors in once he realizes that the plans have been stolen, so he joins the hunt in a supporting role and is none too pleased.
These bounty hunters include Boba Fett, Bossk, Dengar, Zuckuss & 4LOM, IG-88, and Cad Bane, who is from ‘Clone Wars’ and is making his live action debut.”
We already knew Boba Fett was getting his own stand-alone spin-off film at some point in the near future, but now it sounds as if we’ll be seeing him as soon as Christmas 2016. Excited yet? Well, with a cast that includes Ben Mendelsohn, Felicity Jones, and Diego Luna, and Gareth Edwards (“Godzilla”) behind the camera, something good must be coming out of this. We hope.
