Rumor: Colin Farrell To Replace Johnny Depp In Terry Gilliam's 'Quixote'?

The British tabloids aren’t exactly a source to rely on but this isn’t a half bad crack at it if they’re trying to make shit up that is at least feasible. Reports are coming from the U.K. claiming Terry Gilliam may turn to Colin Farrell as a replacement for Johnny Depp on “The Man Who Killed Don Quixote,” who has officially moved on from the film.

“Terry is a fan of Colin and it’s felt he’s one of the few people capable of filling Johnny’s shoes,” The Daily Express are apparently told by a source. While that source is more than likely just thin air, Farrell does seem like a good fit to replace Depp and recently collaborated with him on “The Imaginarium Of Doctor Parnassus” as one of the stand-ins for Heath Ledger within the magical mirror world of the Imaginarium. Depp was originally cast in ‘Quixote’ as an advertising executive Tony Grisoni (the same name as the screenwriter on the project) before the project was abandoned in 2000 and well documented in the documentary, “Lost In La Mancha.”

Gilliam recently revealed that production on ‘Don Quixote’ was set to begin in the near future with scripting completed and casting already taking place. He also revealed he was meeting with actors soon in an interview with Hitflix. More to come, we assume, but we must say, Farrell would not be a bad replacement at all and it would be nice to see Gilliam finally best this bête noire of a project.
