Rumor: Lex Luthor Is Basically Mark Zuckerberg With Tattoos & 'Captain America 2' Will Tie Into 'Avengers 2'

Captain America: The Winter Soldier

Ah, the ever-churning comic book rumor mill, where fans go to nitpick movies that aren’t even close to being released. And the last twenty-four hours has brought some info various points of chatter that should make comic heads interested. So let’s dive in.

Latino Review has apparently got some details on what the new Lex Luthor, set to be played (somewhat controversially by those still hung up on Bryan Cranston) by Jesse Eisenberg, and this might shock you—he’ll be a snotty, arrogant Mark Zuckerberg-esque character. I know, crazy right? According to the site—who caution this could all change because Chris Terrio is rewriting the script, though spoilers ahead—the intel they received reveals that Luthor here is “one part tech genius, one part ruthless business man and two parts Metropolis street tough” who has “body art and… a detailed sleeve tattoo of the Metropolis skyline on his right arm.” LOL.

Anyway, he’s apparently obsessed with the emergence of Superman and believes he’s mortal, “an alien, and a trespasser that doesn’t belong on this planet.” Bruce Wayne on the other hand, with whom Lex shares a testy history (Lex thinks Bruce was born into power, while he earned it himself), is a bit more ambivalent and more concerned with cleaning up Metropolis, and wants Wayne Enterprises and LexCorp to work together. But at the end of the day, it’s not Superman or even Metropolis that pre-occupies Lex, it’s someone else named The Batman….

So yeah, hit Latino Review for the full write up, but that’s the gist of it, which seems intriguing, but as always, this could change or be totally, completely wrong.

Meanwhile, Walt Disney Company CEO and Chairman Robert Iger has shocked no one by revealing that one Marvel movie will tie into another Marvel movie. The Wrap reports that the honcho said that the forthcoming “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” will “set critical events in motion” that will lead into “The Avengers: Age of Ultron.” Could it be from cameos or maybe an important post-credits scene? Is water wet? Is the sky blue?

Anyway, here’s a preview for ‘The Winter Soldier’ from “Thor: The Dark World” DVD (via ScreenCrush). The sequel hits on April 4th.
