Rumor: Warner Bros & DC Developing A 'Legion Of Super-Heroes' Movie

nullWe joked on Twitter a few weeks ago that after the huge success of Marvel‘s "Guardians Of The Galaxy," arch-rivals DC would soon be announcing a "Fluardians Of The Flalaxy" franchise. It turns out we may not have been so far from the truth, because according to the latest rumor to come down the proverbial superhero pipe, Warner Bros and DC may be starting the wheels turning on their own cosmic costumed team.

According to the well-connected Latino Review, the studio is soliciting pitches for a possible "Legion Of Super-heroes" movie. Who’s the Legion of Super-Heroes, you may ask? We had no clue, but a quick jump through Wikipedia shows them to be a group of teenage heroes from the 30th century initially consisting of Superboy, Lightning Lad, Saturn Girl and Cosmic Boy. The title has been rebooted multiple times since 1958, and literally dozens of members have joined over the years, including the likes of Bouncing Boy, Shrinking Violet, Matter-Eater Lad and Karate Kid (whose power could be presumed to encompass copyright violation, although the character predates the Ralph Macchio film by 18 years).

It’s par for the course that Warners have seen the success of "Guardians" and decided "we need our own space heroes" rather than "people went to see that movie because they liked the characters and enjoyed the humor" (reportedly, DC has banned jokes from their upcoming superhero pictures), but it’s their stock price. Or, soon, Rupert Murdoch‘s. This may all just be noise and it’s clearly a long way off for now, but we bet we end up seeing this onscreen before a solo "Wonder Woman" movie. In the meantime, the next glimpse at the fledgling DC Cinematic Universe will come with "Batman V. Superman: Dawn Of Justice," when it arrives in March 2016.
