Maybe it’s just in movies and TV shows or it’s actually something that real people do, but you’re probably aware of the idea of marriage/love pacts between friends. Y’know, something along the lines of, “If we’re not married by 35, we’ll marry each other.” In the new series, “Run,” that idea of a relationship pact is taken to the next level.

As seen in the first full trailer for “Run,” the HBO series follows the story of a woman that finds herself at a crossroads in her life, where she’s unhappy with the direction she’s going in but unable to do anything about it. That’s when she receives a text from her college sweetheart, with the simple message— “Run.” You see, 17 years ago, the two made a deal that if one of them said “run” and the other replied with the same message, then they would run away together and build a new life. And it just so happens, that’s exactly what they try to do.
Obviously, it wouldn’t be an entertaining series if the two just ran off to a secluded beach and lived happily ever after. Along the way, the duo finds themselves on a train, figuratively and literally running away, and coming into large quantities of cash. Plus, there’s the idea that both of them have their own deeply personal reasons for running, but they’re not 100% sure it’s the best time to say them out loud.
