Russell Brand To Take The Lead Role In The 'Rocky Horror Picture Show' Remake?

Is British comedian Russell Brand the top choice to star in the upcoming, “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” remake? Well, it is being produced by MTV Films, and Brand is hosting the upcoming MTV Video Awards in September, so maybe there’s something to it?

According to IMDB news, he’s expected to take the lead role. Meanwhile, the original creator of the ‘Picture Show’ remake is apparently horrified by the idea.

The original announcement said that creator Richard O’Brien would be co-producing, but he told the BBC he wants nothing to do with the project.

“I’m not co-producing it and I won’t be involved in any way. The first I heard about it was when people sent me cuttings from U.S. papers.”

He also said the remake doesn’t have his seal of approval. “It doesn’t have my blessing. I don’t know where they’ll go with it really. … I’ve even heard that they’re going to put new songs in. I wrote the book, the music and the lyrics. Where are they going to get the songs from? Who’s going to do that? That’s a bit strange isn’t it?”

Strange indeed.
