Marvel Studios is typically super secretive when it comes to the casting of its feature films. A lot of the secrecy is achieved because so much of the films are shot on sound stages and you at various other indoor locations. But with all eyes in Australia on the filming of “Thor: Love and Thunder,” we’ve seen a ton of casting news being made just from seeing who is traveling to the country to film. And the latest actor to be reportedly involved with the ‘Thor’ sequel is someone very familiar with big blockbusters, Russell Crowe.

According to THR, Russell Crowe has joined the cast of Marvel Studios’ upcoming film, “Thor: Love and Thunder.” While we’re unsure what role Crowe will have in the film, it’s being reported that the actor will likely play a small part in the film. However, considering we’ve seen filmmaker Taika Waititi introduce Jeff Goldblum to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in ‘Thor: Ragnarok,” in a relatively small part, there’s still a chance that Crowe’s involvement could be a standout in the film. And if nothing else, just knowing Crowe is in the film means his chances of appearing in future MCU features is pretty high. I mean, you don’t hire Russell Crowe for a cameo, right?
“Thor: Love and Thunder” is the fourth film in the ‘Thor’ franchise and is written and directed by Taika Waititi. The film is currently in production in Australia and we’ve seen a number of cast members revealed in set photos. Those folks include Melissa McCarthy, Sam Neill, Matt Damon, and Ben Falcone. All of these actors join the cast that already includes Chris Hemsworth, Tessa Thompson, Natalie Portman, and Christian Bale. Oh yeah, and let’s not forget most of the “Guardians of the Galaxy” cast, as well.

The fourth ‘Thor’ feature is said to pick up from the events of “Avengers: Endgame” and show just how Thor Odinson recovers from the fallout of that massive blockbuster. We already know the film will feature Tessa Thompson’s Valkryie as the new leader of Asgard, and Natalie Portman is said to become the Mighty Thor.
“Thor: Love and Thunder” is scheduled to arrive in theaters on February 11, 2022.
