The Russo Brothers Describe Deleted 'Infinity War' Scene Featuring The Guardians

**Spoilers ahead for “Avengers: Infinity War”…but who are we kidding, everyone’s seen it**

You might think that a two-hour and forty-minute film would have a ton of deleted scenes. However, in the case of “Avengers: Infinity War,” just about everything that the Russo Brothers shot ended up on the screen. All but one scene with the Guardians of the Galaxy.

In an interview on Entertainment Weekly Radio on Sirius XM, Joe and Anthony Russo discuss the scene in question and explain why it was ultimately cut from the final film. Anthony Russo described the scene:

“It’s a scene where they’re sort of stuck. There’s a point in the movie where they’re stuck not knowing what to do. And it was sort of this absurd scene about the Guardians not knowing where to go. And it was really fun, like it was very endearing to us. But because the movie is so big and so propulsive, it just wasn’t quite pushing us where we needed to go.”

“It’s more a straight-up comedic scene,” says Joe Russo.

Judging by that description, we can deduce that perhaps the scene in question is right after Gamora is taken hostage by Thanos and the remaining Guardians, including Star-Lord, Drax, and Mantis are left to figure out what to do next. In the final film, they just reappear on Titan, in time to tussle with Doctor Strange, Iron Man, and Spider-Man. But as the Russos describe, there probably was a funny scene where the Guardians decide to go to Titan.

“It’ll be on the DVD,” concludes Joe Russo.

The other interesting part of the clip is how the Russos explain why there weren’t many deleted scenes at all in the film. Due to the cost of production, actor availability, and the scope of the film, there wasn’t a lot of room for extraneous scenes. The final film is proof positive of this, as the pacing is relentless throughout it’s long run time.

Sadly, we can’t expect much extra footage to hit the web when “Avengers: Infinity War” inevitably sees it’s home release later this year.
