A24 is known for telling unique and bold stories. With its recent hits “Midsommar” and “Hereditary,” they have officially cemented the fact that they’re not afraid to get a little creepy or out there with their films. Enter “Saint Maud.”
The new film, from writer and director Rose Glass in her feature film debut, tells the story of Maud, a deeply pious and highly disturbed hospice nurse. Maud becomes deeply obsessed with saving the soul of her patient Amanda, a former dancer whose body is riddled with cancer. But as we see in the trailer, something lingering in the past might make her continued profession in medicine concerning, maybe even dangerous for Amanda and those around Maude.
Things clearly are not as they seem in the new “Saint Maud” trailer. Its trippy vibe will have audiences questioning what is real and what is fantasy, as it appears Maud may be doing as well. This vibe tends to set A24 movies apart — once again, let’s take a look at “Hereditary” and “Midsommar.” So it’s safe to safe that a trippy and off-kilter movie will be in safe and loving hands with the folks at A24.
Take a look at the synopsis for “Saint Maud” below:
The debut film from writer-director Rose Glass, Saint Maud is a chilling and boldly original vision of faith, madness, and salvation in a fallen world.
