When you have acting powerhouses like Will Forte, Kristen Wiig, and Ryan Phillippe, as the upcoming Peacock series, “MacGruber,” does, then you better have some equally amazing actors to play off them. According to Variety, actors Sam Elliott, Laurence Fishburne, and Mickey Rourke have all joined the cast of the upcoming Peacock revival of “MacGruber.” If you’re a smart person (such as Christopher Nolan), then you are well aware of the fact that “MacGruber” is one of the most anticipated streaming series of the next year or so and will star Forte as the title character, an action hero badass that is also really bad at being an action hero and a badass. But hey, he does have awesome hair and a lovely knack for not diffusing bombs when he’s supposed to.

In the series, we know that Elliott will play Perry, MacGruber’s estranged father. But as with all great stories, Perry has to return to his son’s life to provide sage advice and wisdom. Fishburne will portray General Barrett Fasoose, a highly respected Army general and current husband to MacGruber’s ex-wife, Vicki (Wiig). And perhaps the biggest role goes to Rourke, as Brigadier Commander Enos Queeth, the mysterious villain from MacGruber’s past that has plans that could endanger the entire world and will force our hero to take him down.
The Peacock series has yet to receive an official release date. We know that “MacGruber” is co-written by Forte, alongside John Solomon and Jorma Taccone, with the latter two both directing episodes of the series. “MacGruber” is obviously based on the film of the same name, which has become a cult classic in the decade since its release.
If you want yet another peek at the series, Forte recently appeared on “Late Night with Seth Meyers” to read another scene from the streaming show. And yes, it’s just as awesome as the first time he teased a scene months ago.
