Bond 24” is gearing up for release in 2015, and aside from “Star Wars: Episode 7,” it’s one of the most secretive movie projects coming down the pipeline. Rumors have been plenty, but actual fact has been scarce, though writer John Logan has teased that the film “continues the themes of ‘Skyfall ” and hitting “Charlie Rose,” Sam Mendes has pretty much confirmed that approach.

The director clarifies that the movie is not a direct followup to “Skyfall,” but that the lure of returning to the franchise was in developing the characters further. “I cast a new M, I cast a new Moneypenny, I cast a new Q. I felt there was a second part of a two-part story… ” he explained. He also poured water on the rumors that the next entry would actually be a two-parter.

“[It helped] when [Eon] agreed to wait a little longer and not go immeadiately – not go with two movies [and instead] go with one, which I felt very strongly about,” Mendes said.

So there you go. Watch the full interview below (the James Bond sequel stuff start around the 17-minute mark). The still untitled 007 entry arrives on November 6, 2015. [via Empire]
