Despite being spoiled, Apple is ready to promote their latest (and already spoiled) iPhone on June 7th at the Apple Worldwide Developers Conference. Director Sam Mendes has been tapped to direct an Apple ad, which is presumed to be a spot for the new phone and casting is already underway with a couple of the potential candidates hitting Twitter to express their excitement.
Apple has been no stranger to hiring big name talent for major campaigns. Ridley Scott famously directed the now iconic “1984” themed ad that re-launched Apple and documentarian Errol Morris was behind the “Switch” campaign ads a few years back. And certainly, if the ads take off like the “I’m A Mac, I’m A PC” ads with Justin Long and John Hodgman, the spot could be a career boost for whoever scores the roles(s).
With Mendes on board, it appears Apple views their latest iteration of the iPhone will be a major shift for the product line and the company. It will apparently incorporate video chat capabilities, so now coffee shops all across America are going to have hipsters yelling into touchscreens. Great.
