Sam Rockwell might have the reputation for portraying racists recently (“Jojo Rabbit,” “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri,” and “The Best of Enemies” are just a few examples over the last couple of years), but there’s no denying he’s a funny, talented comedic actor when he’s not trying to go for Oscars. Say what you will about his character from “Iron Man 2,” but Rockwell did some pretty great work in that role, for example. So, we’re completely ready for whatever project Ben Schwartz and Rockwell have up their sleeve.

According to THR, Rockwell is set to co-star with Schwartz in a new film for Searchlight Pictures written by the latter actor. Not much is known about the film, other than it’s a comedy. But with Schwartz writing and starring opposite Rockwell, it can’t be bad, right? The duo previously worked together on the recent film “Blue Iguana.”
As mentioned, Rockwell is an Oscar-winning actor that has appeared in dozens of great films over the years (he’s come a long way from his cameo in “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” 30 years ago). Most recently, he was seen in Taika Waititi’s Oscar-winning film, “Jojo Rabbit,” as well as “Richard Jewell” and the TV series “Fosse/Verdon.”
Schwartz is probably best known for his role on the TV series “Parks & Rec.” However, he recently lent his voice to the main character in the hit film “Sonic the Hedgehog.” He’s also set to co-star in the new Netflix comedy series “Space Force.” As a writer, he’s had a number of credits, including videos with Funny or Die, the Adult Swim series “Robot Chicken,” and most recently, his sketch comedy series “Middleditch & Schwartz.”
Obviously, with no director signed on, production is still a ways off for whatever film Schwartz and Rockwell have cooked up, but we’ll definitely be keeping an eye on it, as it gets closer to release.
