Sam Rockwell & Justin Long Are Batman & Robin In Short 'Robin's Big Speed Date' For Comedy Omnibus Film

It looks like DC Comics has a sense of humor. Batman, Robin, Superman, Wonder Woman and The Penguin are all set to feature, sort of, in the short “Robin’s Big Speed Date” in the upcoming comedy omnibus film.

Based on the short “Robin’s Big Date” directed by James Duffy (which you can watch below) way back in 2005, the director has reunited his cast from the original film that includes Sam Rockwell as Batman, Justin Long as Robin and Josh Hamilton as Superman and added Leslie Bibb as Wonder Woman and John Hodgeman as The Penguin. The concept is fairly simple: Robin tries to have a date only to be interrupted by the awesomely dickish Batman. The concept looks as though it will expand a bit, actually adding the likes of Penguin who is in an anecdote in the original, as well as Superman and Wonder Woman.

This is actually the first short that has gotten our interest in the forthcoming omnibus. Previously detailed sketches involving Kate Winslet & Hugh Jackman and Christopher Mintz-Plasse & Chloe Moretz have been high concept, but sound ultimately pretty dumb. The project features seventeen directors in all including Mike Judge, Brett Ratner, Bob Odenkirk and Griffin Dunne and stars Gerard Butler, Elizabeth Banks, Naomi Watts, Liev Schreiber, Johnny Knoxville, Seann William Scott, Emma Stone, Matt Walsh, Tony Shalhoub, Kieran Culkin, Anton Yelchin and Patrick Warburton. Last we heard, the film is slated to hit theaters later this year.
