Is 2013 going to be Saoirse Ronan's biggest year yet? It's certainly shaping up to be that way. She's got potential franchise coming with "The Host" opening next month, genre offerings "Byzantium" and "How I Live Now" are on the horizon, and she's currently lensing Wes Anderson's "The Grand Budapest Hotel" taking the female lead role. Now she's adding Ryan Gosling to her list of accomplishments.
Ronan has boarded the actor's directorial debut "How To Catch A Monster" with a cast that now includes Christina Hendricks, Ben Mendelsohn, Eva Mendes and "Doctor Who" star Matt Smith. Written by Gosling, the story centers on Billy, a single mother of two, who is swept into a macabre and dark fantasy underworld while her teenage son discovers a secret road leading to an underwater town. Both Billy and Bones must dive deep into the mystery, if their family is to survive. No word yet on Ronan's role.
Production on the movie begins this spring in Detroit, and perhaps we'll see Gosling at Park City next year for Sundance premiere? We shall see, but either way, he's rounded up some very, very good talent to help him 'Catch A Monster.' [Screen Daily]
