Saoirse Ronan is reportedly set to star in Liz Friedlander’s adaptation of Joy Nicholson’s surf-drama “The Tribes Of Palos Verdes.”
The film will center on a teenage girl who grows closer to her troubled twin brother and takes up surfing in order to escape their unbalanced family and snobby friends in the exclusive Californian neighborhood of Palos Verdes.
Friedlander will be making only her second feature film debut after making a name for herself in the world of music video and television before 2006’s “Take The Lead.” Her TV credits include the likes of “The Vampire Diaries,” “90210” and “Melrose Place” as well as music videos for Blink 182, John Mayer and U2.
No word on when production will begin, though Ronan is currently shooting Joe Wright’s “Hanna” with Eric Bana and Cate Blanchett.
