We hope you like your X-Men movies because there’s a whole lot of them coming in 2016, three in fact. "Deadpool," "X-Men: Apocalypse," and "Gambit" are all slated for next year. While there is plenty of room for some of these to move (or not), if you like your mutants mouthy, southern, or, uh, time traveling, you’ll have a few flavors to choose from. At any rate, ‘Apocalypse’ is easily the biggest of the three and jewel in the Fox superhero franchise. With things gearing up for a spring shoot, roles need to be filled and some big names are being tossed around.
According to Latino Review, Taron Edgerton ("Kingsman: The Secret Service"), Jamie Blackley ("If I Stay"), and Tye Sheridan ("Mud") are all in the mix to play young Cyclops in the film. The studio is looking at a talented batch of young actors here, and Edgerton is already set to possibly launch into bigger and better things with ‘Kingsman’ getting hugely positive notices.
Young Storm has Alexandra Shipp ("Aaliyah: The Princess Of R&B") and Zendaya Coleman looking to fill Halle Berry‘s wig. Meanwhile, young Jean Grey has slightly more established names like "Game Of Thrones" star Sophie Turner and Saoirse Ronan in the mix. Nothing wrong with either of those picks as far as we’re concerned, and while it looks like the cast is sort of rebooting again, with the core "X-Men: First Class" team returning (Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, etc.), these new faces will add some fresh blood to the proceedings.
