'Saving Private Ryan' Scribe Robert Rodat To Rewrite ‘Thor 2′

nullNow that Marvel is done tossing around directors for "Thor 2," choosing TV helmer Alan Taylor ("Game Of Thrones," "Mad Men") over the Christmas holiday, it seems the script is going to get worked over as well.

Don Payne, one of the three who wrote the screenplay for the first 'Thor' as well as an Emmy-winning writer for "The Simpsons," was first hired to take a crack at the script over the summer, and now some fresh blood is being brought in. Deadline reports that Robert Rodat, the Oscar-nominated pen behind "Saving Private Ryan," will give "Thor 2" a rewrite. He hasn't written a produced film since 2000's "The Patriot," but his recent work on the Steven Spielberg produced sci-fi series "Falling Skies" likely made him an attractive hire for Marvel, who seem obsessed with getting TV talent for their sequel.

There's still time to tinker with this as the movie isn't set to hit theaters until November 15, 2013. But with the shoot aiming to get underway later this year, things will need to start getting locked down soon.
