Ok, admittedly this thing is ridiculously short but it’s still an interesting snapshot into the early pre-production work by Edgar Wright on “Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World.”
Posted by the director to his blog, and described as a “little nugget from the eventual DVD/Blu-ray,” this brief animation, made in June 2008 by Edgar’s brother Oscar was done to “explain the physics of the battle between Scott Pilgrim and Matthew Patel.” It’s a brief but interesting look at what must have been some pretty heavy planning sessions for the fight sequences, that mixed a number of different elements (CGI, music, differing aspect ratios, on screen text) into one seamless whole.
“Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World” is in theaters now and given that the last couple of weeks of August are pretty much a garbage dump, you should convince someone who hasn’t seen it to go. No word yet on when the DVD/Blu-ray will hit but hopefully in time for Christmas?
