Darren Aronofsky hasn’t released a film since 2014’s biblical epic “Noah”, so anticipation is high for his newest psychological thriller “mother!”, which just released its second trailer before its premiere at the Venice Film Festival. The film stars Jennifer Lawrence, Javier Bardem, Michelle Pfeiffer, and Ed Harris, and all we know so far is that it’s about a couple’s relationship that’s tested when uninvited guests arrive at their home, disrupting their tranquil existence.
Aronofsky has said the film is close in spirit with “Black Swan”, with its focus on a woman dealing with a psychological breakdown, that may or may not be real. Whatever the vibe, this is one of our most anticipated films of 2017. Jennifer Lawrence has already talked briefly about the film (and her romantic relationship with Aronofsky) in Vogue, which you should read as it explores Lawrence generally and how the “mother!” shoot affected her.
“mother!” will be released on Sept. 15th and is both written and directed by Aronofsky. In addition to the aforementioned cast, the film co-stars Domhnall Gleeson and Kristen Wiig and is shot by regular Aronofsky cinematographer Matthew Libatique, with the score composed by Johann Johannsson. Let us know what you think about the trailer in the comments below.
