The untitled cancer comedy formerly known as, “I’m With Cancer,” is now known as “Live With It” according to the site Rama.
Based on Will Reisner’s comedic novel about a twenty-something who becomes stricken with the disease, James McAvoy was supposed to play the lead in a cast that featured Seth Rogen, Anna Kendrick, and Bryce Dallas Howard, but the Scottish actor left the project last minute earlier this year and was replaced by Joseph Gordon-Levitt.
The film also stars Angelica Huston, Philip Baker Hall and is director Jonathan Levine’s follow-up to “The Wackness.” Here’s the new plot synopsis.
Based on an incredible real-life experience, LIVE WITH IT is a funny, touching and original story of friendship, love, and survival starring Seth Rogen, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Anna Kendrick, Bryce Dallas Howard and Angelica Huston. Adam (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) is an average guy in his mid-20s when he’s diagnosed with a rare form of terminal cancer. His family and friends – from girl-crazy best buddy Kyle (Seth Rogen), to insecure girlfriend Rachael (Bryce Dallas Howard) and overbearing but loving mom (Angelica Huston) – attempt to help him through this process in the best way they know how…which is reflected in some of the most hilarious and bizarre ways ever.
Seth Rogen is producing the project with his writing-producing partner Evan Goldberg (“Superbad,” “Pineapple Express”) and Ben Karlin (“The Daily Show”) under the aegis of Mandate Pictures (their relationship with Rogen also includes, “Jay and Seth vs. the Apocalypse”). Director Nicole Holofcener (“Friends With Money,” “Please Give”) was initially set to direct this project, but left last fall. The film evidently focuses on the two male best friends (Gordon-Levitt, Rogen) and is about “friendship, love, and survival – in no particular order.” We were hoping for a 2010 release, but we’ll probably see a scheduled date in 2011 at this point.
