The Weinstein Company (and their genre label Dimension) sure know how to exploit “negative” publicity. So when an alert lands in our mailbox about a poster for “Sin City: A Dame To Kill” for running foul of the MPAA, one has to wonder if the studio knew exactly what they were doing when submitting it in the first place. And in this case, we’re pretty Harv and co. had a pretty good idea what would happen when this poster design went out the door.
Page Six reports that the MPAA has disapproved of the Eva Green character poster below due “for nudity—curve of under breast and dark nipple/areola circle visible through sheer gown.” And all we can say is, duh. Not much is left to the imagination here, but in terms of creating a striking image that will get people to blog about the movie for an umpteenth time, mission accomplished. So check that out and watch a related ‘Dame To Kill For’ clip with director Robert Rodriguez and star Joseph Gordon-Levitt below.
“Sin City: A Dame To Kill For” arrives on August 22nd.
