We can’t always agree on movies, but these differences are worth celebrating…
On this episode of Adjust Your Tracking, Joe and I kick things off discussing “Star Wars: The Last Jedi,” the movie pretty much everybody saw last weekend. Joe hasn’t seen it yet, but I’m quite fond of this latest sequel in the world’s biggest franchise, despite my concerns voiced in last week’s episode. There’s a lot to appreciate in what writer/director Rian Johnson has brought to the series, allowing for new spaces and themes to emerge and, perhaps, surprise us again.

The main thrust of this episode, though, is with one of the year’s most beautiful, funny and subversive films, Guillermo del Toro‘s “The Shape of Water.” Sure, Disney just bought Fox, but thankfully Fox Searchlight was able to get this one out before the merger becomes real, as its one of the speciality division’s most wonderful films (amongst an already impressive library of titles). There’s so much to enjoy in this film, especially if your cinephile, but that doesn’t mean Joe and I wholeheartedly agree on the film. Tune in to find how much we agree and disagree.
