A few bits and bobs of casting, so let's just dive right in….first up, the always excellent Shea Whigam ("Take Shelter," "Silver Linings Playbook") has taken a role in his "Boardwalk Empire" executive producer Martin Scorsese's new film "The Wolf Of Wall Street." Based on the memoir of the same name, and adapted by Terence Winter, the film will tell the true story of Jordan Belfort, a wheeling and dealing New York stockbroker who sees his career and personal life fall into shambles thanks to sex, drugs and alcohol. No word yet on Wigham's role, but he joins fine company with Leonardo DiCaprio, Jonah Hill, Jean Dujardin, Rob Reiner, Matthew McConaughey, Jon Bernthal and many more all featuring. [Deadline]
Meanwhile, "Grace Of Monaco" continues to roll with Nicole Kidman playing Grace Kelly, and the esteemed Derek Jacobi is now lending his talents to the picture. Penned by Arash Amel ("The Expatriate"), the story is set in 1962, when the city-state of Monaco got into a heated dispute with France, which had grown tired of the small principality being a tax haven. Charles De Gaulle gave Kelly's husband Prince Rainier III six months to change his tax laws, and she maneuvered behind the scenes to save Monaco from a coup. Jacobi will play aristocrat Count Fernando D'Aillieres who helped Kelly go from actress to princess. [Variety]
Character actor extraordinaire David Paymer (too many movies to list) will flex a bit of tentpole muscle by joining "Jack Ryan." The reboot of the Tom Clancy character finds Chris Pine in the title role with Keira Knightley on his arm, Kevin Costner checking in, and Kenneth Branagh playing bad and directing in the story of the agent (before he joins the CIA, and working as a stockbroker) who tries to foil a scheme to destabilize the American economy. No word yet on Paymer's role. [Variety]
Finally, David Duchovy, Hope Davis and Timothy Hutton will all feature in "After The Fall." The film is based on the true story of two parents who are inspired by the death of their daughter to create a world class, healing-friendly children's hospital. Carroll Cartwright ("What Maisie Knew") penned the script, Anthony Fabian ("Skin") directs, and this will surely be the next "Extraordinary Measures." [Deadline]
