Shortcuts: Dev Patel, Kate Winslet, Phillip Seymour Hoffman and Ralph Fiennes All Qualify For The Golden Globes Supporting Role Category

The Golden Globe eligibility committee approved the following submissions for supporting roles, despite the fact that their status as supporting roles is highly debatable: Dev Patel for “Slumdog Millionaire,” Kate Winslet for “The Reader,” Phillip Seymour Hoffman for his performance in “Doubt” and Ralph Fiennes for his performance in “The Duchess” and “The Reader.” [LA Times]

Johnny Depp has purchased the rights to the 2002 novel “The Hand of Dante” and plans to cast himself as an author living a quiet life who is swept into an underworld of danger and mystery when he is forced to authenticate a supposed original manuscript of Dante’s “The Divine Comedy.” It is nice to see that Depp, Tom Hanks and Nicholas Cage are all playing the exact same treasure hunting character.
