Sigourney Weaver Says She'll Be Playing A New Character In The 'Avatar' Sequels

null"…have you ever heard of nonlinear storytelling? A lot happens on that planet before she shows up, and before Jake shows up to join her," James Cameron said in 2011 about the return of Sigourney Weaver in the "Avatar" sequels even though her character, Grace, died. "She’s there for fifteen years ahead of time. I don’t know, but I wouldn’t jump to conclusions. And I’ve already said way too much about ‘Avatar 2 and 3’ here and there, but people piece it together like those voice cameos and tell the whole story!"

And yet, Cameron couldn’t helping saying a few more words: "Okay, here’s the deal. When you have a science-fiction series, a science-fiction franchise, you’re never dead, unless your DNA is expunged from the universe. And then there’s always time travel!"

So is Grace dead, alive, or transformed? Well, we’ll find out eventually, but recently guesting on "The Jonathan Ross Show," Weaver clarified somewhat how she’s able to return to Pandora: "I don’t play the same character," she said simply.

But does that mean Grace has become something, after the failed attempt to save her life via The Tree Of Souls? Or does Cameron have a whole different idea up his sleeve? Well, we’ll find out sometime in 2017 (unless the project gets delayed again).
