Given the suddenly prodigious production rate the Icelandic atmospheric rockers Sigur Ros are working at these days, it’s hard to believe that frontman Jonsi has time for anything else. With the band dropping two albums in the past two years — 2012’s Valtari and 2013’s Kveikur — while touring, commissioning music videos and more, it seems that the otherwordly singer is dipping his toes back in the movie biz. In 2011, he scored Cameron Crowe‘s “We Bought A Zoo” and while we wait for them to reteam on the director’s next effort, Jonsi is returning to the animated world.
You might recall that the musician contributed the song “Sticks And Stones” to the first “How To Train Your Dragon” (watch the music video here), well he’s back, and revealed on the Comic-Con floor today (via Matt DeTurck), he’s teaming up with composer John Powell (who also worked on the previous film) to write three new songs for “How To Train Your Dragon 2.” Any new music from Jonsi is fine by us, even if it comes in the package of a kids’ film, and with the movie slated to drop next summer if they aren’t already hard at work, we bet they soon will be.
Meanwhile, DreamWorks also used the event in San Diego to reveal that Cate Blanchett, Djimon Hounsou and Kit Harington have been added to the cast of voice actors. EW adds that the actress will play Valka, a human who rescues dragons caught in traps with the actors taking the roles of the maniacal Drago Bludvist and dragon-trapper Eret, respectively.
