Six years ago, writer/director Garth Jennings introduced audiences to Calatonia and the human-like animals that live there in his animated film “Sing.” In that film, koala Buster Moon puts on a singing competition to save his once-renowned Moon theater from going under and rouses the musical dreams of others in the process. Now, Buster, Rosita, Mike, Ash, Johnny, and Gunter are back in “Sing 2,” set to hit theaters this holiday season.

Jennings returns to write and direct the animated film produced by Illumination. Chris Meledandri and Janet Healy, producers of the first film, return for the sequel.
Initially slated for a release last December, the COVID-19 pandemic forced Universal Pictures to push “Sing 2” to this July 2. Universal then gave the upcoming “Minions: The Rise Of Gru” the July slot and moved back “Sing 2” to a release this December.
