'Smokin Aces' Prequel Greenlight For Unfathomable Reasons

We understand that there was an election yesterday, who knew? But enough with that, it is time to move on to more important matters, like the fact that Joe Carnahan announced on his blog last week that the prequel to “Smokin Aces” had been greenlit and pre-production is already under way. This decision most likely stems from the fact that the original was made for $17 million and managed to pull in $35.8 million, for reasons we can’t fathom as it was an overblown, cartoonish and overwrought mess (you know you have aggressively mediocre taste if you thought that joke was “badass,” it nothing like the greatness that was “Narc”)

We honestly don’t really give a shit but Carnahan posted on his blog that “Cameos will abound. Trust me.” Oooh, the suspense is killing me. He also informed us that it will focus on the psychotic (and ridiculous) Tremor Brothers (played by Chris Pine, Kevin Durand and Maury Sterling) and Brian Bloom’s character, Agent Baker (yeah, we barely remember him too). We have no idea if Jeremy Piven will be involved, but we have to assume that if he is out, this thing could struggle to get anything but straight to DVD.
