'Snowpiercer' Trailer: 4 Years Since It Was Announced, The Series Riff On Bong Joon-Ho's Sci-Fi Classic Rolls Out Of The Train Station

How appropriate is it that a TV show an endless journey on a train has been on a seemingly endless journey to the screen? The television show “Snowpiercer” has been in the works for four years now. Josh Friedman (“Sarah Connor Chronicles”) had initially developed the show in 2016 with TNT, with Scott Derrickson (“Doctor Strange”) directing the pilot.

Friedman jumped shipped in January 2018, citing creative differences. That February, “Orphan Black” co-creator Graeme Manson took over the reins as showrunner. And things got messy fast; Friedman lashing out on Twitter and Derrickson quickly announcing his own exit too, citing Manson’s vastly different vision as the cause.

If your head isn’t spinning yet, one (hopefully) final piece of news on the Snowpiercer” production hell has been announced — the show has found a new home as TBS’ very first drama. “Snowpiercer” finally looks to be back on track with a season premiere date of Spring 2020, and even a second season has already announced.

The show is a soft reboot of Bong Joon-ho’s 2013 film of the same name, starring Chris Evans, Tilda Swinton and more. “Snowpiercer” the series is “set more than seven years after the world has become a frozen wasteland, Snowpiercer centers on the remnants of humanity, who inhabit a gigantic, perpetually-moving train that circles the globe. Class warfare, social injustice and the politics of survival play out in this riveting television adaptation. Writing on Season 2 will begin [June 2019] with Graeme Manson returning as executive producer and showrunner.

“Snowpiercer” stars Jennifer Connelly, Daveed Diggs. Alison Wright, Mickey Sumner, Susan Park, Iddo Goldberg, Katie McGuinness, Lena Hall, Annalise Basso, and Sam Otto.
