So, Apparently There Is Another 'The Grudge' Movie In The Works

For a brief moment there, Hollywood was obsessed with J-horror. “The Ring” and “The Grudge” remakes were both massive hits, each spawning a sequel (the latter even got a third, straight-to-DVD entry), but that seemed to be the extent of interest from audiences. Other attempts to bring remake to the big screen like “Dark Water,” “Pulse” and “One Missed Call” couldn’t match the success of the predecessors and Hollywood has largely stayed away from the genre since. But both “The Ring” and “The Grudge” are still bonafide brands of sorts, titles that still resonate with a certain segment of horror audiences so no surprise that another attempt is going to be made to milk money out of one of the franchises.

According to Bloody Disgusting Sam Raimi‘s Ghost House Pictures and Mandate are apparently developing another remake/reboot of “The Grudge.” Hooray. No word yet on who will star in this thing, or whether or not it will even hit theaters is not yet known, but if we to put money on a roll of the dice, something tell us you’ll see this pop up on Netflix sometime randomly in the future. Make no mistake, this apparently won’t be a “The Grudge 4: The Grudgening” but a new, standalone film.

As Bloody Disgusting notes, if you count Takashi Shimizu‘s original movies, this will make for the eighth movie in the franchise. A sort-of remarkable achievement if only because we don’t know how many people still actually care about those movies. Anyway, looks like the long haired spectre will back be back to try and scare and you silly.
