Sofia Coppola Reportedly Planning Movie On The Hollywood Hills Burglar Bunch; Tess Taylor Apparently Stars

nullThe perils, loneliness and emptiness of celebrity have a familiar theme for Sofia Coppola, explored in most her films including "Lost In Translation," "Marie Antoinette" and "Somewhere." And if a report coming out of TMZ is accurate, she's once again going to dip into that world, albeit from a different angle.

The site says that Coppola is planning a feature film based on The Burglar Bunch aka Hollywood Hills Burglar Bunch aka The Bling Ring, a group of teenagers who pulled off some brazen heists of celebrity homes, including those of Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan, Rachel Bilson, Megan Fox and Orlando Bloom, taking up to $3 million dollars worth of goods. The group was made up seven affluent teenagers, including Alexis Neiers, a socialite of sorts who, at the time, was filming her own reality show "Pretty Wild." The twist here is that according to TMZ, her sister Tess Taylor will be taking a role in Coppola's film (Taylor also appeared on "Pretty Wild" and with her sibling, made an appearance in the straight-to-DVD flick "Frat Party").

No word yet from Coppola's and who knows, this could be total BS. The project is apparently set up at Francis Ford Coppola's Zoetrope Films, and overtures had been made to burglar Nick Prugo to be a consultant on the movie, but he turned them down. But this won't be the first movie about the subject. This fall, Lifetime aired "The Bling Ring Movie," a pretty low budget effort that starred Jennifer Grey. You can read a full rundown of the true story in a great overview Vanity Fair. Celebrity viewed through the eyes of priveleged teen thieves, could certainly be intriguing. But we'll have to wait and see if this pans out.
