Sofia Coppola To Adapt Phoenix's 'Love Like A Sunset' Into A Film?

Speaking with the New York Times, Phoenix front man Thomas Mars has revealed that partner Sofia Coppola is currently adapting his song “Love Like A Sunset” into a film of some sort.

The predominantly instrumental, two-part song is the fourth and fifth tracks on Phoenix’s latest album Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix with only a few lines of lyrics in its latter half.

It’s not made clear if the project will simply be just a music video, a short inspired by the song or a feature length film but the report does specifically use the term ‘movie’ possibly implying a feature length film. That however may very well have been lost in translation somewhere in the phone interview with Frenchman Mars.

Coppola recently optioned Francine Prose’s “Goldengrove” possibly with an eye on a film adaptation but before anything else, has her baby with Mars due approximately in May. Her film “Somewhere” meanwhile, which will feature a score by Mars, should hit theaters later this fall after a likely premiere at the Venice and Toronto Film Festivals.
