There’s no stopping Dwayne Johnson these days. The action star is gearing up for a massive 2013 with “Snitch” hitting theaters next week, and a trifecta of blockbusters in “G.I. Joe: Retaliation,” “Pain & Gain” and “Fast & Furious 6” arriving spring/summer. And oh yeah, he’s also going to be shooting “Hercules: The Thracian Wars” with Brett Ratner. But it’s not all roses for Johnson, as one project seems to have slipped away.
Last year, the DC Comic property “Lobo” was gaining some momentum at Warner Bros with “Journey 2: The Mysterious Island” director Brad Peyton signing on to direct, with Johnson eyeing the project for a starring role. But it looks like that won’t be happening. “It was [something that I was going to do] for a minute, but then it kind of just went away, as things happen in Hollywood. For a minute, I was interested in it, but then it went away,” he recently told MTV.
Now, it doesn’t sound like “Lobo” itself is dead per se, but more like his involvement with whatever is happening with it is over. But given that the big fish to fry at Warner Bros. right now comics-wise is “Justice League,” perhaps an already marginal character may not be their big priority at the moment. So consider this on pause for the moment, we guess, but we don’t think anyone will be too worried about “Lobo” not happening anytime soon.
