It looks like Garry Marshall, in his grand plan to turn every notable day on the calendar into a tedious star-studded rom-com, will have to do without "Bastille Day." That's because the French national holiday is getting the generic action movie treatment, hooray!
So who better to make this happen than Pierre Morel, the director behind "Taken" and who last made the capital of France the setting for "From Paris With Love." This time around, Paris will once again serve as the backdrop in the screenplay by Andrew Baldwin (who penned the Yazuka tale "The Outsider" that Daniel Espinosa is attached to direct and is re-writing "Logan's Run" for team Refn/Gosling) that tells the story of a young American artist and a washd up CIA agent who are improbably paired up to stop an attack on the city. Sacrebleu!
God, this sounds pretty horrible but there is one way we'll gladly watch this: cast Jared Leto as himself, and let Nic Cage be the CIA agent. That would be amazing. [THR]
