'Space Force' Photos: Steve Carell's Newest Workplace Comedy Has Him Going To The Moon

With Netflix set to lose “The Office” at the end of the year, thus leaving a huge Steve Carell-sized hole in its library, the streaming service has decided to fix that with “Space Force.” And as we can see in new photos, while “Space Force” isn’t exactly the same as “The Office,” it’s clear that Carell and his cast/crew are hoping to replicate that sitcom’s success in a new series that puts a fun spin on the workplace comedy.

“Space Force,” as the name suggests, tells the story of four-star general Mark Naird (Carell), who is put in the position to lead the military’s newest branch. He’s joined by a group of scientists on a remote base in Colorado, where they’re tasked with getting the US back to the moon and achieving total space dominance.

Joining Carell in the series are John Malkovich, Diana Silvers, Tawny Newsome, Ben Schwartz, Lisa Kudrow, Jimmy O. Yang, Noah Emmerich, Alex Sparrow, and Don Lake. As mentioned, the series comes from the minds of Carell and “The Office” co-creator Greg Daniels.

“Space Force” is expected to arrive on Netflix on May 29. You can see all the first look photos below.

Here’s the synopsis:

A decorated pilot with dreams of running the Air Force, four-star general Mark R. Naird (Steve Carell) is thrown for a loop when he finds himself tapped to lead the newly formed sixth branch of the US Armed Forces: Space Force. Skeptical but dedicated, Mark uproots his family and moves to a remote base in Colorado where he and a colorful team of scientists and “Spacemen” are tasked by the White House with getting American boots on the moon (again) in a hurry and achieving total space dominance.
