Space Jockeys Appear In Pic From 'Prometheus' Plus New Images From 'The Hunger Games' & 'Men In Black III'

nullWhile Hollywood wakes up to a hangover following the Golden Globes last night, here's a quick break from awards season chatter. The blockbuster movie season is beginning to appear on the horizon and some new images from what are arguably three of the biggest movies of the year (outside of "The Dark Knight Rises") have landed.

Kicking things off, Hero Complex has dropped a new still from Ridley Scott's "Prometheus" and its getting geeks talking. Why? Well, if you look to the left of Noomi Rapace, in the background you'll see the space jockeys, in what is probably the most direct connection yet to the "Alien" films. Of course, how it will all play into this spinoff/prequel that Scott says will only tie into his iconic sci-fi series during the last eight minutes remains to be seen, but kudos to the marketing team that have kept the mysteries under wraps while keeping the excitement at a very high pitch. And Scott wants this thing to be huge.

“The movie is definitely epic in its scope. One of the filmmakers that we ended up talking about to a fair degree of redundancy was David Lean, who directed ‘Lawrence of Arabia,’” he said. “We wanted to make the movie feel big by having the characters be small in big spaces. That connected to the larger themes we were talking about — that we’re all just these little gnats crawling around on our little planet.” We'll see how big this thing is when it opens in 3D on June 8th.

Meanwhile, the LA Times has dropped (a completely irritating to navigate) guide to 101 movies opening in 2012, with some images to go with it. First up, another pic from what continues to be the campiest looking movie this spring, "The Hunger Games." Lionsgate's hopeful new franchise is looking to strike lightning with its fervent fanbase, but my god, those wigs! Also, we're not sure who else is in the image, but it appears the paper cropped the pic leaving someone's maroon pants in the image. Maybe that's Cinna? Anyway, that blue drink seems tasty and Woody Harrelson looks delightfully dishevelled. We'll see how this all adds up on March 23rd.

And judging from the disastrous stories being reported during production, along with the pretty tepid trailer that dropped last month, you may want your memory erased after seeing "Men In Black III." Agent J and Agent K are back to battle aliens, only this time there is time travel involved, with Josh Brolin sliding in to deliver a pretty eerie Tommy Lee Jones impersonation in the 1960s.
