Spec Script 'Agent Ox' Goes To Sony For Producer Neal Moritz

With “I Am Legend,” “Fast & Furious” and “The Green Hornet” all under his belt — regardless of what you might think of those films — it’s undeniable that Neal Moritz knows how to make successful blockbuster fare. And with “21 Jump Street,” “Total Recall” and “Jack The Giant Killer” among the many films he has coming along, the hits won’t be stopping any time soon and he’s got his eyes on another project with big potential.

Deadline reports that late last night, a bidding war ended with Daniel Kunka‘s highly chased-after “Agent Ox” going to Sony Pictures for six figures. DreamWorks, Fox and Paramount were all gunning for the script, but Moritz paid $300,000 out of his discretionary funds to help close the deal for the spec script that centers on a human spy on an alien planet.

Kunka wrote the interesting, but completely unsuccessful, action thriller “12 Rounds,” so we’re surprised that merely a spec script of his has garnered so much interest. Hopefully, we’ll hear a little more plot in the days to come because there’s certainly something in there that got so much attention. But given the logline alone, we can see why interest was piqued.
