“The Current War” just keeps adding to its already impressive cast. “Spider-Man: Homecoming” star Tom Holland, Katherine Waterston from “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” and Sienna Miller (recently in “Foxcatcher” and “High-Rise” among others, and starring with Holland in James Gray’s “The Lost City Of Z“) are set to join Benedict Cumberbatch and Michael Shannon in the upcoming film.
The Weinstein Company’s “The Current War” tells the story of the bitter rivalry between George Westinghouse (Shannon) and Thomas Edison (Cumberbatch) as they fight to see who is going to bring a sustainable electricity system to the United States. Other than the previously mentioned cast, the film also stars Nicolas Hoult as Nikola Tesla, with “Me and Earl and the Dying Girl” director Alfonso Gomez-Rejon helming the film.
“The Current War” is not the only Westinghouse/Edison film currently in development. “The Last Days of Night” is being developed now with Eddie Redmayne set to star, and Morten Tyldum set to direct. However, TWC will likely be getting the jump with “The Current War,” as cameras will roll in December. [Deadline]
